Today, Oxnard celebrates 123 years since its incorporation, a milestone that invites us to reflect on the history, people, and shared experiences that have shaped this remarkable community.

Although I have only called Oxnard home for the past five years, it has become much more than the city where I live and work. It is the place where I built a business, found meaningful opportunities to serve others, and experienced tremendous personal and professional growth. In what feels like such a short time, Oxnard has had an incredible impact on my happiness and the direction of my life.

Moving to a new city is never just about changing your address. It is about building connections, earning trust, and discovering where you belong. From the very beginning, I was welcomed by people who genuinely care about their neighbors and their community. That spirit is something I continue to witness every single day.

As the owner of Buenaventura Signings, I have the privilege of serving people throughout Oxnard during some of life’s most significant moments. Whether I am helping a family complete their estate planning documents, assisting someone with an apostille for an international matter, or traveling to a hospital or senior living community for a notarization, I am reminded that my work is ultimately about people.

Every appointment tells a different story. I meet individuals from every walk of life, each with their own hopes, challenges, and accomplishments. Those conversations have taught me that one of Oxnard’s greatest strengths is its people. Their resilience, generosity, and willingness to support one another create the kind of community that makes a lasting impression.

As someone who also volunteers with a therapy dog team in our local hospitals, I have seen another side of this community, one defined by compassion and service. These experiences have reinforced my belief that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference. Oxnard has inspired me to become more involved, more connected, and more committed to giving back.

Looking around today, it is exciting to see how our city continues to grow while preserving the values that make it unique. Its rich agricultural roots, diverse cultures, thriving local businesses, and dedicated community members all contribute to a place that continues to evolve without losing its identity.

I often say that I am proud to serve the people of Oxnard, but the truth is that this city has given just as much to me as I hope I have given in return. It has provided opportunities I never imagined, friendships I deeply value, and a true sense of belonging.

On this 123rd birthday, I celebrate not only the history of Oxnard but also the future we are creating together. I am grateful to be part of this community and look forward to continuing to serve its residents for many years to come.
